Understanding your truck’s warranty can save you time, money, and frustration down the road. Below is a clear, practical breakdown of common questions we hear about Kenworth warranty coverage, what’s typically included, and what owners should be mindful of during the warranty period.
Important: Always refer to your truck’s Operator’s Manual for full and official warranty details. Where differences exist, the Operator’s Manual takes precedence.
Kenworth Warranty Maintenance Requirements
Your Operator’s Manual governs all warranty and maintenance requirements for your truck. Regular maintenance is mandatory on all new trucks, and failure to follow prescribed maintenance schedules may affect warranty eligibility.
The information in this article highlights common maintenance and warranty considerations, but it does not replace the Operator’s Manual.
IMPORTANT KEYPOINTS TO REMEMBER
- Not all concerns or conditions identified on a new truck are covered under warranty
- Warranty coverage applies only to defects in materials or workmanship as defined by the manufacturer
- Items considered normal operation, normal wear, maintenance-related, or adjustment-related may not qualify for warranty coverage such as and not limited to brake linings, brake pads, and drums, clutch linings and clutch adjustments, belts and hoses, wiper blades, light bulbs, fuses or tires.
- Concerns resulting from improper operation, lack of maintenance, or external influences are not warrantable
- Suspension Fasteners: Fasteners that come loose and damage components will only be considered warrantable if the customer can show a certified facility performed a suspension retorque at or below 8,000 KMs and that the customer re-torques/inspects the suspension every 80,000 KM or 1000 hrs of service.
- If a truck is presented for warranty repair and no fault is found, or the condition cannot be duplicated, the repair may be deemed non-warrantable although a record of your concern will be logged.
- When a truck is brought in for concerns within the warranty period and no warrantable defect is identified, the customer is responsible for a minimum of two (2) hours of diagnostic labor
- Diagnostic charges apply regardless of warranty status when no manufacturing defect is confirmed
COMMON TIME-BASED AND KM LIMITS
See your owner’s manual or speak with the service desk for specific warranty coverage for your unit. Warranty can only be applied to a repair after the root cause of failure is determined. The customer is responsible for approving the repair and is liable for the invoice if the failure is determined not to be warrantable. Where discrepancies exist between this page and the Owner’s Manual, the Owner’s Manual takes precedence.
